How long might a charge take?

Change the numbers to explore how energy and power affect a simplified estimate.

Enable JavaScript to calculate an estimate.

Learning estimate only. Assumes constant average power and the efficiency you enter. Actual charging varies with the vehicle, temperature, supply limits and charging curve. This is not an installation specification.

How the estimate works

Energy added = usable battery capacity × (target − starting percentage) ÷ 100. Energy supplied = energy added ÷ efficiency. Time = energy supplied ÷ average power.

Default example: 60 × 0.60 = 36 kWh added; 36 ÷ 0.90 = 40 kWh supplied; 40 ÷ 7 ≈ 5.7 hours.

THE WHOLE ENERGY PICTURE

Your vehicle is part
of a bigger system.

Think about your building’s existing loads, available supply and when you can charge. Solar and battery storage add more choices, but the equipment must be considered together.
